Safeguarding Season 3-27 November 2023

Rochester Cathedral is marking a month-long season of Safeguarding this year, in which we invite everyone to reflect on the past failures of the Church in protecting children and vulnerable adults, here in Rochester and elsewhere.

Our commitment to putting survivors and victims of abuse first is demonstrated not least in the presence of the Loudfence on the Cathedral railings, and anyone is welcome to join in that act of solidarity by tying ribbons.  Further information is accessible via the QR code above, on rochestercathedral.org

On Saturday 4 November at 3.15pm we will host a National Service for ‘White Ribbon’ –the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls.

‘Safeguarding Sunday’ is Sunday 19 November, and there will be a focus and special prayers at services that day.

November 25 sees the beginning of the 16 Days of Action to end Domestic Abuse campaign. Domestic abuse is widespread and police receive a call every minute about domestic abuse.  There will be a gathering in the Lady Chapel at 1pm that day.
